Yes Google's help has obviously been invaluable to Mozilla in spreading and promoting Firefox. Or at least it was back in the day before Google rolled out its own browser, Google Chome, and has been using its search engine to aggressively promote it instead. Which makes Asa Dotzler's put down of Bing seem a little stupid. Yes Firefox benefited a lot from being the anti-Microsoft and the original Mozilla based browser, Netscape, was destroyed by Microsoft's Internet Explorer which bundled it with Windows, but on the other hand there's no doubt that while Google has the dominant search engine market share, Bing is the next largest search engine, and pretending otherwise is just stupid. On top of that it's now in Firefox's interest to create some competition between Google and Microsoft, which might mean giving Bing a small leg up.
